The short version
Maple is a Chrome extension that tracks product prices on Amazon and Newegg. We built it to be honest about money and data alike. On the free plan, everything you track stays on your own device. If you upgrade to Pro, we store the minimum we need — your tracked items, license key, and email — to run background price checks, validate your subscription, and send your alerts. We never sell your data, never inject affiliate links into your purchases, and never track your general web browsing.
In one line: Free users — nothing leaves your browser. Pro users — only your tracked items, email, and license key leave your browser, only to power background checks, subscription validation, and email alerts.
What we collect
We collect only what's needed to do the job you asked for:
- Products you choose to track. For each item you track, we store the retailer, product ID, product title, product URL, product image URL, current price, all-time-low price, target price, and currency.
- Your email address and license key — Pro users only. Provided at checkout and during license activation. We use them to send your price-drop alerts and to validate your Pro license.
We do not collect names, payment card details (those are handled by our payment processor — see below), browsing history, or any product page you didn't explicitly choose to track.
Where it's stored
- Free users. Everything is stored locally in your browser using
chrome.storage.local. Nothing leaves your device. If you uninstall the extension, this data is removed. - Pro users. In addition to local storage, your tracked items, email address, and license key are stored in our backend database. This is what lets Maple re-check prices in the background (Amazon and Newegg), verify your Pro subscription, and email you when a price drops — work that can't happen on a device that's turned off.
What we don't do
- We never sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We never inject affiliate links into your Amazon purchases, and we don't take a commission on anything you buy.
- We do not track your general web browsing. The extension only reads the product page you are actively viewing on Amazon or Newegg — and only to extract the price and product details for items you track.
- We don't run third-party advertising or analytics trackers inside the extension.
Service providers (sub-processors)
To operate Maple we rely on a small number of trusted service providers. We share data with them strictly to run the service, never for their own marketing:
- Lemon Squeezy — processes Pro payments and issues license keys. Lemon Squeezy is our Merchant of Record and handles your billing details.
- Supabase — hosts the database where Pro users' tracked items, email, license key, alert preferences, and price history are stored.
- Resend — sends your price-drop alert emails.
- Keepa — provides Amazon price lookups used for background monitoring.
Permissions the extension requests
Chrome asks you to approve certain permissions when you install Maple. Here's exactly why each one is needed:
- storage — to save the products you choose to track.
- alarms — to schedule periodic price re-checks and license re-validation.
- notifications — to show you a notification when a tracked item hits your target price.
- Host access to amazon.com and newegg.com — to read the price and product details on the product page you are viewing on those sites. Maple does not request access to any other websites.
Your rights and choices
- You can stop tracking any item at any time from inside the extension.
- You can uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data from your device.
- Pro users can email us to request deletion of any data we hold in the cloud. We'll action verified requests promptly.
- You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time via Lemon Squeezy; see our Terms of Service.
Children
Maple is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Continued use of Maple after an update means you accept the revised policy.
