Help & Support

How can we help?

Answers to common questions about installation, tracking, Pro, and privacy.

Getting started

How do I install Maple?
  1. Click Add to Chrome on the Chrome Web Store listing.
  2. Confirm the permissions prompt — Maple only requests access to Amazon and Newegg.
  3. Pin the extension to your toolbar: click the puzzle-piece icon → find Maple → click the pin.

That's it. No account needed to start tracking.

Do I need an account?

No. The free plan requires no account and stores everything locally in your browser. An email is only needed when you upgrade to Pro — so we know where to send your price-drop alerts.

Which browsers does Maple support?

Google Chrome (and Chromium-based browsers like Brave, Edge, and Arc). A Firefox version is planned but not yet released.

What permissions does Maple need and why?
  • Amazon & Newegg access — to read the product page you're already on. We never access any other site.
  • Storage — to save your tracked products locally in your browser.
  • Notifications — to show a browser alert when a price drops to your target.
  • Alarms — to schedule the periodic license recheck (Pro only).

Maple never reads your browsing history, never accesses pages on other sites, and never injects scripts outside of Amazon and Newegg product pages.

Price tracking

How do I track a product?
  1. Go to any product page on Amazon or Newegg.
  2. Click the Maple icon in your toolbar.
  3. Click Track this. Maple reads the price automatically.
  4. Optionally, set a target price to get alerted when it drops that low.
What does the free plan track?

Up to 5 products simultaneously. Each time you visit a tracked product page, Maple reads the current price from the DOM and updates your history. It also shows you the all-time low price recorded while you've had the product tracked.

On the free plan, price checks only happen while your browser is open and you visit the product page. Background monitoring (even when the browser is closed) is a Pro feature.

What is the all-time low?

The lowest price Maple has recorded for that product since you started tracking it. It's shown in the popup next to the current price so you can see at a glance whether today's price is actually good.

Note: this reflects data Maple has collected itself. It does not pull historical data from before you installed the extension.

How many products can I track?

Free plan: up to 5 products. Pro plan: unlimited. If you hit the free limit you'll see a prompt to upgrade when you try to add a sixth product.

Which stores are supported?

Amazon and Newegg. We'd rather support a few stores well than many stores badly, and both of these support automatic background monitoring on Pro.

Alerts

How do I set a target price?

Open the Maple popup on the product page (or from the popup's tracked list), click the target icon next to the product, and enter the price you'd pay. Maple will alert you when the price reaches or drops below that number.

What kinds of alerts does Maple send?
  • Browser notification (free + Pro) — pops up in Chrome the moment you visit a tracked product page and the price is at or below your target.
  • Email alert (Pro only) — sent automatically by our server within minutes of a price drop, even when your browser is closed.
I'm not getting email alerts. What should I check?
  1. Check your spam / junk folder. Alerts come from alerts@maple-group.info.
  2. Add that address to your contacts or safe-senders list to prevent future filtering.
  3. Make sure a target price is set for the product — alerts only fire when the current price drops to or below your target.
  4. Confirm your Pro license is active: open the Maple popup and look for the Maple Pro panel.

If you've checked all of the above and still aren't receiving emails, contact us at privacy@maple-group.info.

How do I unsubscribe from email alerts?

Every alert email includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it immediately stops all future price-drop emails without affecting your Pro subscription or tracked products.

Pro & billing

What do I get with Pro?
  • Unlimited tracked products (free plan caps at 5)
  • Automatic background price monitoring — hourly checks even when the browser is closed
  • Email price-drop alerts
  • License-backed server checks for price-drop alerts
  • Priority support
How do I activate my Pro license?
  1. After purchase, Lemon Squeezy sends you a receipt email with your license key.
  2. Open the Maple popup and click Activate Pro.
  3. Enter the email address you used at checkout and paste your license key.
  4. Click Activate. Maple verifies with our server and upgrades your plan immediately.
How do I cancel?

Open the customer portal linked in your original receipt email from Lemon Squeezy, then click Cancel subscription. Cancellation stops future charges immediately — no waiting period, no questions. Your free plan keeps working after cancellation.

Can I use Pro on multiple computers?

One license key can be activated on one device at a time. If you want to switch computers, deactivate your license in the Maple popup on the old machine first, then activate it on the new one.

Who handles billing?

All billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. They process payments, issue receipts, handle VAT/tax compliance, and manage subscription renewals. Maple never sees or stores your card details.

For billing disputes or refund requests, contact Lemon Squeezy support directly via the link in your receipt email.

Privacy

Does Maple track my browsing?

No. Maple's content script only activates on Amazon and Newegg product pages — it does not run on any other site, does not read your browsing history, and does not track which products you view unless you explicitly click Track this.

Does Maple add affiliate codes to my Amazon links?

Never. Amazon's terms of service prohibit affiliate links inside browser extensions, and we respect that. More importantly, inserting affiliate codes would mean we earn money from your purchases — which contradicts our core promise of being funded by Pro subscribers, not your shopping.

What data does Maple store and where?
  • Free plan: your tracked products (title, price history, target) are stored only in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to our servers.
  • Pro plan: the same tracked product data is also synced to our Supabase database so our server can run background price checks on your behalf. We store only your email, your license key, and your tracked items. No payment data.

See our full Privacy Policy for details.

Do you sell my data?

No. We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Our only revenue source is the Pro subscription.

Troubleshooting

Maple isn't detecting the product on a page
  1. Make sure you're on a product page (not a search results, category, or cart page). The URL should contain /dp/ on Amazon or /p/ on Newegg.
  2. Try refreshing the page — Maple reads the DOM 800ms after load; occasionally a slow-loading page needs a refresh.
  3. Check that the extension is enabled at chrome://extensions.
  4. Try disabling other extensions briefly to rule out a conflict.

Still not working? Email us the product URL at privacy@maple-group.info and we'll investigate.

The price shown in Maple doesn't match what I see on the page

Maple reads the price from the DOM the moment the page loads. A few things can cause a mismatch:

  • The page updated the price dynamically after Maple already read it (try refreshing).
  • You're seeing a coupon or membership price that requires an action to apply — Maple reads the default displayed price.
  • Amazon shows different prices based on your login state or region.

If the discrepancy persists after a refresh, email us the product URL.

I lost my tracked products after reinstalling Chrome

On the free plan, data lives only in your browser's local storage — reinstalling Chrome clears it. This is expected behaviour.

Pro alert monitoring depends on your tracked products still being present in the extension. Export/restore is not part of the current v1 launch.

My license key says "invalid" or "already activated"
  • "Invalid key" — make sure you copied the full key from your receipt email with no extra spaces. The email address field must exactly match the one you used at checkout.
  • "Already activated" — your key is in use on another device. Deactivate it from the Maple popup on that device, then activate it here.

If you can't access the old device, email us at privacy@maple-group.info and we'll reset it for you.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email privacy@maple-group.info with a brief description and, for bugs, the URL of the affected product page. Pro users get priority responses.
